Replace repeated author with a dash

Hello,

I'm using a custom .bst I made through makebst. I need to replace an author that appears twice with a dash.

Example:

Lastname, N. (1999) Work , City, Publisher
------------ (2002) Work 2 , City, Publisher

Do I need to add something to the .bst or the .bib file?
I read about using IEEETran ...
