Exported PDF not searchable

I recently upgraded my desktop to Ubuntu 12.10 and did a clean install of Ubuntu 13.04 on my laptop. Since then, any PDF I export with LyX is unsearchable (on both operating systems). I have no problem searching a PDF exported using TeXmaker, and I had no problem searching any PDF before I upgraded ...
