If I were you, I would;
1. Compile as is.
2. Get the .bbl file and copy the contents directly into the main file.
3. Edit the year 2007->2007a or 2007b
4. Recompile.
This way you get to customize bibliography. Hope this helps.

I guess you could try \vspace{-3mm} for the first problem and \cleardouble page before the title for the second problem. Hope this helps.

Hello All,
I am trying to left align the table numbers in my thesis but the output looks like this:
