Memoir looks like a promising class for several projects I have in mind. So, I started a systematic study but, got no further than page 3 in Peter Wilson's The Memoir Class before I ran into questions.

I set up the following test *.tex file:

\documentclass[ebook,9pt,extrafontsizes,oneside ...

No, didn't set footruleskip. But will give it a try.

fancyhdr was included with my distribution:

/usr/share/texmf-texlive/tex/latex/fancyhdr
/usr/share/doc/texlive-latex-base-doc/latex/fancyhdr
/usr/share/doc/texlive-doc/latex/fancyhdr

Hello,

The Lulu file upload documentations says that *.pdf files must be compiled by Adobe distiller.

Any reason why one can't use *.pdf files generated through lyx? Love to hear from anyone with first-hand experience.

I'm running Lyx 1.5.5 on Debian Lenny.

Using book(memoir) I'd like to show author's name centered on even pages, book name centered on odd pages.

As soon as I enter \usepackage{fancyhdr} in the document preamble, however, I get the following error when I try to view as *.pdf:

I'm running Lyx 1.5.5 under Debian Lenny.

The style dropping.sty is installed under /usr/share/texmf-texlive/tex/latex/dropping.

I've entered /usepackage{dropping} in Document/Settings/Latex Preamble.

And \dropping{3}{I} in an ERT box at the beginning of my ...
