Some correction to the instructions: In Lyx 1.6.8 go to tools/Preferences and then under "File Handling" click on "file formats" and then, as sniper_87 said,
as format you chose PDF(pdflatex), and at "viewer" delete "pdfview" and type in "AcroRD32". Save, and try ...
