U unchecked "Replace quotation marks" and it works now.

I try to add two dots over a letter...
and I can't. The problem is that in my TeXnicCenter recognizes " as two characters ' and '. So the command \"{a}, which should put two dots above a, will put one ' above another. I can try \ddot in math mode but this changes the letter font or maybe I can try the package \metre but that is for latin ...
