I am writing a thesis which has bibliographic entries in multiple languages (specifically scripts) e.g. Russian (Cyrillic), Turkish, Romanian. I seem not to have set up my document properly as when I attempt to compile, I receive the following error:

Package babel Error: You haven't specified a ...

Thank you for your response. That was very helpful! I just have to add spacing prior to the section titles--but judging from the documentation link you sent, I think I can figure that out.

There is vertical space before the chapter titles: I am still a bit fuzzy with the titlesec code ...

I am using Lyx (1.6.4 on Ubuntu 9.10) to write my MA thesis. I am new to Latex and Lyx but have sorted out the formatting with one problem area. My university (American University of Beirut, fyi) requires the following concerning chapter title, section and subsection formatting:
