Scribo – a new player in the ring

Post by harroldc »

http://www.scriboapp.com/

There is a beta version available through websites such as MacUpdate (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/30939/scribo) and it looks very good. Probably similar to OcTeX. I think that this application is going to be the best amongst the others.

Recommended reading 2024:

LaTeXguide.org • LaTeX-Cookbook.net • TikZ.org

NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.

And: Currently, Packt sells ebooks for $4.99 each if you buy 5 of their over 1000 ebooks. If you choose only a single one, $9.99. How about combining 3 LaTeX books with Python, gnuplot, mathplotlib, Matlab, ChatGPT or other AI books? Epub and PDF. Bundle (3 books, add more for higher discount): https://packt.link/MDH5p

Do you know what the license is; it says “free”, but is it open source?

Anyway, I’m a bit skeptical, given that whoever made the logo on the homepage doesn’t seem to know that you need to use \LaTeX command with a trailing \ (as \LaTeX\ ) if you want the spacing correct if used mid-sentence. :D

I am not sure, but I presume that the beta is actually a freeware and the release will probably be as well. We will see, or you could contact the author – the program has an interface for questions, requests and bug reports.

As far as I understand from developer's blog, the logo was made by a designer, who could be inexperienced with LaTeX. He did also type Mac OS X as MacOSX, so... Anyway, we are being too precise. What really matters is the program itself and it seems to be very good to me. :)
