Texmaker and TeXstudio ⇒ Writing speed in texmaker

Hi

I use texmaker as an editor for my university research.
My problem is that soon after starting to write in texmaker there is a considerable time gap between the moment when I press a key on my keyboard and when the letter finally appears in texmaker. Obviously this complicates the process of writing a lot.

Does anyone know what happens here or how I could solve that problem?

I use texmaker on a MacBook with Intel Core Duo Processor and OSX 10.4.8.

Bump on this. I experience a bit of a delay myself and it is really annoying. It does make it more difficult to write.
Anybody have a solution?

I have no idea what is causing it. I can only say that it not happening when I am typing in TeXmake, nor with anyone else I know using the same program. My guess is, that the problem does not have anything to do with TeXmaker, but rather with your computer or other some other software running in the background, conflicting with TeXmaker.
I have no idea what that would be though.

Why nok try another editor, e.g. LyX or Texniccenter. There are many others
