Table of content (continue numbering after parts)

Postby Anne94 » Thu Jan 24, 2019 12:49 pm

Hi all,

I have the following organization of my document:

\part{hhg}
\input{chaptergg}
\intput{chapterhh}

\part{chhh}
\...
\....

I want that the numbering of chapters continues over all the parts. Such that not for every new part the chapter numbering start from 1. can anyone help?

Hi Anne,

welcome to the forum!

Continuous chapter numbering is the case by default. Example:

  1. \documentclass{book}
  2. \begin{document}
  3. \tableofcontents
  4. \part{First Part}
  5. \chapter{First Chapter}
  6. \chapter{Second Chapter}
  7. \part{Second Part}
  8. \chapter{Third Chapter}
  9. \chapter{Fourth Chapter}
  10. \end{document}

So there is nothing to change yet. Do you make something non-default? Which document class and settings (preamble) are you using?
