using TeXnic for the first time

Post by pam »

I downloaded and installed everything recommended by ProTEXT and opened a tex file using TeXnic, and got the error txfonts.sty not found. I downloaded the zip file as recommended on your webpages and unzipped in the base directory of latex but the program does not find it. I even opened the MiKTeX and tried ReFresh FNDB but get the error

Windows API error 32: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.

C:\Documents and Settings\...\Local Settings\Application Data\MiKTeX\2.7\miktex\config\8ba1cb689be1f99fb899575759c24738.fndb

How I can get over this and start using letex? Are there other programs who do not start with problems?

Packages are much more easier installed using the MiKTeX Package Manager (Start -> Programs -> MiKTeX -> Browse Packages). Browse the package list and install txfonts with a click on "+" in the symbol bar.

Best regards and welcome to the board
