problems with numbering and line break

Post by Nejiga »

Hello Everyone,

first I want to apologize for my bad englisch.
On my work I have to write a documentation with Lyx and I have some problems with the numbering of formulas and pictures.
Now they are numbered from 1 till 100.000 (or some other number) and I have to numbered it for each chapter.
My problem is, that I couldn´t find any point where I could set a hook or something like this. If I write some lines in the code, then I couldn´t open the document with the Lyx-surface again.
Can you follow me and understand my problem?
How could I numbered the formulas like 3.1 without changing the code?

The second point is, I have some tables in my documentation and the lines in them are very long, and if I print the document in a pdf, the lines are cutted of on the end of the page. How could I get a line break in the table?

For now that´s all.
Thanks for your help.

Bye Nejiga

Just for information to other users for awareness of possibly already existing solutions. The question has also been posted to goLaTeX.

It doesn't matter if we work together - however it would be bad if we would not know about the golatex, i.e. the cross-post. The worst issue regarding cross-posts is not to post links to the other posts. Posting a problem to 2 or 5 forums, letting all people there work on the problem even if 1 forum has already a solution (nobody sees because of missing links), that's not good.

It's not that somebody would be annoyed if he sees the question somewhere else too. It's not our problem that we read other forums as well, it's an advantage. Other people who don't read other forums, might miss a solution and still try to solve an already fixed problem. That's why a link is required.
