Hi everyone,
Short question. Regularly I use the tabular environment to typeset quoted text in papers. I have noticed that in some cases (xe)Latex squeezes the paragraph before or after the float by adjusting its linespread. How can I avoid that? It looks really crappy.
Thanks for all suggestions.

penalty to avoid auto linespread when using floats?
Please provide a Minimal Working Example, so we can specifically help you. Now I'm just guessing some things:
Have you specified \linespread{1} in your documents preamble?
If that doesn't work, maybe it's the algorithm of LaTeX again that restricts the fraction of floats on a page. I wrote something about that here.
But again, I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for.
