Will your changes fix the behavior for all the commands in the siunitx package, not just \SI?

The code for the user macros all uses the same core functions. So you'll see the problem go away with all of the siunitx functions.

I ran updates this morning and the siunitx update came through. It seems the problem has been fixed perfectly.
