I will discuss this with our administrator. With regard to the fact that TeXworks will be part of the two most common LaTeX distributions there will be a certain demand on such a forum.

...I admit a tabbed interface would be nice, and master/sub-document settings, but these aren't big deals to me. I know it's an early project, so I'm very optomistic about it.

I've just found out that Texworks actually has kind of "master document" feature. All one has to do is to put in sub-document, at its beginning, the following line:

% !TeX root = path/main_file.tex

(Of course, "path/main_file.tex" should be replaced with master document name). Now it is possible to compile the document directly from sub-document. Getting nearer

EDIT: BTW, after working with Texworks couple of days, I really miss shortcuts for creating sectioning of existing text and formatting, like in Kile: you select text, press Ctrl+1 and you get selected text as chapter (Ctrl+1 being an example), or Ctrl+b and you get \textbf{} etc. No obvious way to do this in Texworks. And no shortcut does work in Texworks when touching a word :/ So, conclusion: Texworks is great for writing from scratch, but not so great for editing existing/imported document.
