How use Adobe Times Roman small caps in LaTeX?

Post by murraye »

Please explain the names indicated for renaming Adobe's distributed files:
  • ptmrc8a (initially tirsc___) and

    pfmb8a (initially tibsc___)
OK, the foundry (source) name is "p" for Adobe.

For the Times-RomanSC (tirsc___), the next two letters "t m" indicate Times; OK, too. Is the next letter, the weight, being "r" instead of "m" a problem?

More mysterious to me is the indicated name for the bold weight version: pfmb8a. Why should that not be ptmbc8a: "p" for Adobe; "t m" for Times, "b" for bold weight; and "c" for small caps?
