Hi Wilson,

your example worked for me. Without further information I cannot tell more than you could try to compile from the command prompt as Thorsten said, to check if it's a TeXnicCenter issue, or try a different editor. Or - try TeX Live.

Why? Let me tell you that your example works flawlessly with TeXnicCenter (TXC) 1 RC1 on a MiKTeX 2.9 system (full installation) on Wind0ws XP SP3. You either follow the link in my last reply for a remedy or try TXC2alpha3 where this problem is said to be fixed.

I'm pretty sure this is the well known issue because others reported a similar problem and at least the graphicx package causes it because it seems not to be installed by default on a basic MiKTeX installation [1]. Therefore the compiler tries to install it subsequently and runs into trouble when using TXC1 in conjunction with wrong MiKTeX settings.
