Did you get this code from conversion?
No, i didn't use rtf2latex2e. I saw the code here: http://www.haptonstahl.org/latex/basics_formatting.php

This site is anything but recommendable. The author uses obsolete code and packages and also disregards many other recommendations from the »l2tabu« document. The best (or worst) example in this regard is the suggestion for obtaining displayed math expressions. Other suggestions like increasing the vertical space between list items are also very questionable.
