I am using Linux Mint 17.1.
I tried to update my pgf version.
For that I did the following.
went spm and delete the older version(pgf 2.0) means I gave complete removal option.
And it deleted my older pgf version.
Now I want to install the latest version pgf3.0.1a in texlive.
I have attached the figure, which shows how my current spm looks,
I need new version means How I have to using synaptic?

Did you make any progress? I think you can only install the current version with Synaptic. No way to install a newer one with it. However, you could install the original TeX Live over the Internet from tug.org which gives you the newest one and the possibility to really get the latest updates.
Another option would be to install the new pgf package into your user texmf directory. It has priority over a system pgf package.
