Problem with a table...

Post by Johannes_B »

Both columns of your table are of type l, which does not break lines. Use m-columns as mentioned earlier.
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

Recommended reading 2024:

LaTeXguide.org • LaTeX-Cookbook.net • TikZ.org

NEW: TikZ book now 40% off at Amazon.com for a short time.

And: Currently, Packt sells ebooks for $4.99 each if you buy 5 of their over 1000 ebooks. If you choose only a single one, $9.99. How about combining 3 LaTeX books with Python, gnuplot, mathplotlib, Matlab, ChatGPT or other AI books? Epub and PDF. Bundle (3 books, add more for higher discount): https://packt.link/MDH5p

is there a way to switch to m-columns in LyX, so i don't have to use LyX AND another latex editor at the same time?

Problem with a table...

OK, i have found a solution to half of the problem.
thanks for the advice for m-column. it brought me to this site, which helped:
http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/Tables#toc4

now, setting a defined table width leads to line breaks in the columns.
so far, so good.

but i still have the problem of having the picture stick out too far. or put another way, the text after the table still overlaps with the picture, if the height of the picture is larger than the height of the text inside of the table.

Hm, I would test it, but I would need the code. Maybe you can prepare a LyX example with that table, and post the LaTeX export and the image here in the forum, as attachment?
