I used to work on a Mac and created a bibtex libraby with more or less 1000 entries with BibDesk. Now I was obliged to switch to a Mac and have decided to work with Jabred as it seems the only real alternative. But right after importing the library.bib file into JabRef I encounter the following problems and I have no clue how to solve them - may be someone of you has experience here?
1. Instead of showing umlauts and other special characters JabRef shows brackets etc in the table view.
e.g. in the line Author it shows Piotr B{\'a}nski but when I click on an entry it shows the correct Bánski in the
preview window. This way, persons with a special character as the first letter are really hard to find...

I think there should be a button to define this behavior but had no luck to find out if and which one...
2. The majority of my entries is linked to a PDF file in Bibdesk but this information seems to be lost or useless in JabRef...
The .bib file is in folder
pdf-library\
the PDFs are in subfolders (made by Bibdesk) of pdf-library\files\
I defined this folder under settings/external programs but when I chose Tools/Open PDF I get the message "No pdf or ps defined, and no file matching Bibtex key found."
I hope you can help me or tell me of a converter or anything else at it would be extremly helpful if I wouldn't need to recreate everything manually...
Thank you very much in advance!
