Issue with Writing Permissions on Mac

Post by atoregozh »

Hello all,

I just installed the MacTeX 2012 Distribution and although it comes with TeXworks and TeXShop automatically I decided to get another software - TeXmaker. TeXmaker seemed more user friendly for me.

However, when I tried to view my work as a PDF and hit "Run" on TeXmaker I got the following error:
The file could not be saved. Please check if you have write permission.
I checked the writing permission for the folder that I tried to save the document and I have both writing and reading permissions.

Does anyone know whether there needs to be an extra step made in order to make TeXmaker work with MacTeX?

Thanks.

I had the same problem on Windows. You have to save the file with .tex as extension. That worked on my windows machine. Maybe this will work on Mac too.
