These packages conflict with fancyhdr.

Do you have more to contribute to the topic than such trivia? Of course they do because at least titlesec is an alternative package. Nobody claimed that these two would go together. Furthermore there was not talk of fancyhdr until you came up with that question, which would be better placed in a new thread.

I thought it was self-explanatory. The thing is, I want to keep fancyhdr but I want to have asterisks at some sections. I don't think this is a trivial request.

There has been no question from your side. Only a note. An according request is not trivial, if there would have been one. And by the way, it is not a big deal to translate your settings from fancyhdr to titlesec. The latter one won't do any harm to your document and has more useful features than only setting up header and footers. And these features together with its companion titletoc make the provided solution in its simplicity possible.
