Does anyone else out there use tgif with lyx?
I have been using tgif to generate simple eps vector graphics for years. You can set up tgif to include equation objects in your document.
The objects are real eps objects in tgif (tiff preview). When you click on them, it automatically opens a lyx window where you can edit your equation (then save and close). The scripts automatically convert the equation lyx file to ps then to eps and import it back into tigif.
You get WYSIWYG eps equation editing using this crazy tgif+lyx combo, but getting the scripts set up can be trouble. I have managed to make it run on linux and PC cygwin, so it can be done.
And if you really wanted to, I think you could set up LyX to use tgif as your eps editor, so you could open LyX, click on a eps figure to automatically open it in a tgif editor, then click on a LyX equation object to open another LyX window for equation editing. The mind boggles!
