LyX ⇒ LyX-167-4-25-AltInstaller-Complete doesn't work on win7 x64

After Miktex installation is finished (all default values), I got this message:
No LateX-distribution could be found!
LyX cannot be used without a LaTeX-distribution like "MiKTeX"
The installation will therefore be aborted

Even though MiKTeX is successfully installed and I can see it in start menu.

I also tried the bundle installer, it doesn't recognize MiKTeX install either, even when MiKTeX is installed successfully, it says the installation is not completed, but it does continue to install LyX. But I got error "the layout file requested by this document, article.layout, is not usable" when opening LyX.

I am seeing the same problem - however, I am installing on Windows XP (32bit) rather than Windows 7.

MikTex 2.8 seems to be installed fine and the PATH is updated to include C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.8\miktex\bin (at the start of the path) and yet the AltInstaller still complains it can't find it...

I'm not sure what's wrong with AltInstaller, but since you managed to install LyX using "bundle installer", check if the correct path to binaries is set in Tools > Preferences > Paths > PATH prefix and if not, enter the full path. Then reconfigure LyX (Tools > Reconfigure) and restart it.

I meet the same problem as above. It's seems that the alternative installer has some bug to detect whether the miktex is installed correctly. It's really depressed me for my first installation of lyx...

btw: 1.6.8 still have same problem...
