General ⇒ random blue screen crashes while working with Tex files

Hello,

I'm getting blue crash screens reporting some sort of service_exception when I am working with Miktex 2.8 + Texniccenter, under Windows 7 Home Premium. The crashes are sort of random but whenever they occur I happen to be working with LaTeX. I am working on a Sony Vaio Laptop, and sometimes (but not always) before (or instead) of the crash I get messages saying that my security centre has been disabled and my anitvirus (Symantec Endpoint Protection) stops working. Sometimes this crashes corrupt the project files (but so far not the actual tex files used by the project) and once it corrputed the output profiles.

Has anyone experienced or heard anything similar? Unlike with other issues I've encounterd, in this case I'm not sure how to even begin to attempt a solution, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: For those having the same problem: I uninstalled MikTeX 2.8 and replaced it with the 2.9 beta and the crashes seem to be gone.
