being able to use LateX without Internet connection

Post by sacar »

Hello,
Is it possible for me to somehow put Miktex and WinEdt on my (ancient)computer with which I cannot get on the web?
I thank you for your time,
Emmett

p.s. Running on XP

Hi,

you can download MiKTeX2.8 to a computer with internet connection and then burn it in a DVD disk; then you can perform the installation in your machine from the DVD.

There's also a portable MiKTeX2.8 edition that could be of interest for you.

Or you could get a TeX Live DVD from a user group. Where are you geographically? Here in the UK, we've just taken delivery of our TeX Live 2009 DVDs, for example.

Thank you for the suggestions. I am in London, Ontario. I think I will go with the first option first.
