I was having troubles with TexMaker 1.9.2 and upgrading to MikTex 2.8. It was saying cannot start the command when trying to LaTex a new document, old documents (before upgrade) still work fine. Reading some forum post on here it mentions that it may be a problem with MikTex being installed after TexMaker. Repeatedly removing and installing TexMaker changed nothing, so I have now removed and re-installed MikTex.
Now TexMaker is giving me "! I can't find file `filename.aux'.", even though when a check the working directory I can see it there? Can anyone help me out? I have tried this with the simplest documents for the same result.

Re: Cannot find .aux file - error
It turns out that I haven't fixed the problem of cannot start command. When I make a new document it still comes up with the cannot start LaTex error. I have found that by refreshing the FNDB in MikTex it gets past this error and on to the cannot find .aux file error. I have got past this error now but I don't really know how. I played with the System path directory, but ended up leaving it how it was and the document that was stuck on cannot find .aux file then compiled and I was able to view it. I am very frustrated and confused, can anyone help?
