Rotating a big text in a page.

Post by latexforever »

Hello. I want to rotate by 180° a big text in a document, but everything on the page of the text is rotated, except the text.

It is a problem. Here is a MWE:

Code: Select all

\documentclass[10pt]{article}
\usepackage{boxedminipage}
\usepackage[latin1]{inputenc}
\usepackage{graphics}

\begin{document}
Dummy sentence.

\rotatebox{180}{
\begin{boxedminipage}{\textwidth}
\tiny
On traite différents cas:
\begin{enumerate}
\item Nous sommes aujourd'hui samedi. Si l'on considère bien que l'on est le jour que nous sommes (ce qui est assez conventionnel), hier était \textit{vendredi}. Or après-demain est dit comme étant hier. Dès lors, après-demain est vendredi. Le jour fictif correspond donc à mercredi. Il faut $1+1+1+1=4$ jours pour atteindre dimanche (inclus). Maintenant, on considère qu'avant-hier était demain. Or, si l'on est toujours samedi, avant-hier est jeudi. Si avant-hier est demain, nous sommes mercredi, de sorte qu'il faut encore $4$ jours pour atteindre dimanche (inclus);
\item Nous sommes aujourd'hui samedi. Si l'on considère bien que l'on est le jour que nous sommes (ce qui est assez conventionnel), après-demain sera \textit{lundi}. On sait donc, pour le jour fictif, que hier est lundi, puisque hier est après-demain. Dès lors, on ne peut qu'être mardi. Il faut $1+1+1+1+1=5$ jours pour atteindre dimanche. On sait qu'avant-hier, par définition, est demain. Or, si l'on est toujours samedi, avant-hier est jeudi. Si avant-hier est demain, nous sommes mercredi, de sorte qu'il faut $4$ jours pour atteindre dimanche (inclus). Les deux jours différant, le problème n'est pas résoluble;

Works fine for me. Perhaps a problem of the viewer. Create one page filled with normal text before this one and check the behaviour.

I do not understand why it does not work at my compilation. Is my .pdf file ``bad'' (i.e. not as I want it to be) on your computer?

I've noticed that it works when the text is shorter.

I think that some things would help to get closer to the probable cause.
  • The LaTeX distribution
  • The compilation route
  • The list of used files
The last point needs the \listfiles command in the preamble.

How can I manage to learn these pieces of info?

First of all you should be aware of some important things.
  • The log file is incomplete. At least the first five lines are missing.
  • You should know which LaTeX distribution you are using. It is MiKTeX.
  • You should also know that your compilation route is LaTeX -> DVI -> PS -> PDF.
The cause of the problem is the conversion from PS to PDF. Compiling and converting this way I can comprehend the problem. At the moment I have no explanation for that. I compiled with pdflatex directly to PDF right from the beginning and it worked. Conversion from DVI to PDF with dvipdfmx works also for me.

You better upload complete log files as attachment to make sure that no important information can get lost.

Yes, but are they relevant? I should have specified that it was a part of the log.

I didn't now that it was what you call ``the compilation route.'' However, I know this route.

Thanks for keeping me learning.

Thanks. Clear explanation. There are sometimes some weird things which happen when using this route.
