Graphics, Figures & Tables ⇒ Circle/line on photo

I would like to add a circle and/or a line ontop of a photo (tiff, jpg, pdf, etc.) that I have placed in a LaTeX document or a beamer presentation. I have not found a good reference on how to do this.

Could someone please let me know what package I should be using.

This can simply be done with the overpic package.
