two monitors

Post by flows69 »

Hello,

I have to type a lot more LaTex documents than previously and was considering purchasing a second monitor. My question is quite simple: is there a way I can get TexMaker to have my code on one screen and the preview pdf on the other ?

Thanks in advance for the help ;-)

PS. If TexMaker does not offer this possibility, do you know a software about as user friendly which could ?

I think you can seperate the editor and the previewer and move them to different screens. An alternative would be to drop the internal viewer and use an external one.
An alternative to texmaker is texstudio by the way, some kind of extended version. But there are manny many more (La)TeX editors out there.
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

Yes, that's correct. I do it this way and it works fine.

But I've got another question: Is it possible to start a second session of the editor or to show two documents in two windows? If so it would be much easier to work with two documents.

Thanks in advance for the help ;-) - Ludger

I know this is a very old post but this is what pop up with a google search, actually the solution is, according with the Texmaker documentation (section 4.9) https://www.xm1math.net/texmaker/doc.html
With the "-n" option a new instance of Texmaker is launched (will break synchronization with the pdf viewers).
So launching it with a terminal, or also in windows probably editing the launching command of the shortcut on the desktop will do the trick, but as noted in the doc you will break the synchronization with the pdf viewers.

No problem with updating an old thread with better or newer information. And welcome to the forum!

Indeed that's a very good reason to update existing information. Thank you for that!
