General ⇒ Output not viewable

i am following the instructions at https://artofproblemsolving.com/wiki/in ... ctive_Mode using TeXnicCenter - when I run the file I see a subliminal flash. I think an image is output but it closes immediately. I find no output file. Is there a way of keeping output on the screen?
