I've just aquired a new MBP through work.
I've been using Lyx for a year, but im new to the OSX platform.
My problem is that Lyx is awefully slow. Scrolling is a pain, and it seems to lock up the entire PC while opening a relatively small (10 p) lyx document. Its almost unusable.
I've googled this, and found that some people have similar issues. Ive tried the following:
I installed the newest MacTex package, and i've tried 2.0.0, 2.0.4 and 2.0.6 (newest) versions of lyx. Using AppZapper to remove them between upgrading. A colleage of mine is using the same version of OSX with lyx 2.0.4 - and that works fine...
I found this on a forum:
"...one may add the following line to your preferences file:
\force_paint_single_char false
On a Mac this is the file "~/Library/Application Support/LyX-2.0/preferences".
(Broken cursor placement for long lines should be one consequence.)"
but when i access that path on my PC - theres no preferences file?
So, any and all input is welcome.
Thanks in advance
Tobias

Re: Lyx awfully slow and unresponsive
I found a solution.
Lyx is out in a beta version 2.1 (beta 2).
You can download it here:
ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/devel/lyx-2.1/lyx-2.1.0beta2/
and that helped alot. Its still not windows standards, but it sure did work.

I have a similar problem. I run Lyx 2.3.0 on macOS High Sierra. Lyx is very slow when it comes to typing and editing. Does anyone have the same problem? Is there any solution? Thank you!

I haven't seen this problem on Ubuntu. You might try LyX 2.3.1 which will hopefully be released in a few days. Maybe it will somehow fix the issue you're seeing.
