How to install PGF/TikZ3.0 in MikTex
It is great to find this forum. I would like to use Latex/TikZ to draw 2D graphs. I found a useful link to follow https://tex.stackexchange.com/questions ... ktex. It says that Download the tds.zip https://sourceforge.net/projects/pgf/fi ... urce=files. Unpack the zip file somewhere outside your miktex system. Then add the root folder as a new root in miktex settings. When pgf is available throught the package manager you can simple remove the root in miktex settings again.
. I tried this one solution but I didn't see any pgf files in package manager are from this downloaded pgf/tikz package. Actually I found out that there existed old pgf files.
And other says that As of now, (probably actually a few months back.)
PGF 3 is in MikTeX. Open up the MikTex Package Manager and Click remove on the pgf package, (if you have it already) then click add again to get the new version. So should I search and find all my old pgf files and delete them right? but after that, how and where can I add them again to get the new version?
Thanks a lot.

when did you install MikTeX? pgf3 is out for quite a while and will definitely be installed with a complete MikTeX install.
I always recommend to install a complete distribution as installing single packages using the package manager is still a pain and hard disc space is cheap these days. You will need less than 5 GB of space.

welcome to the forum!
If your MiKTeX installation is a bit old, perhaps uninstall/delete it, and install it again (the full version).
Or consider installing the new TeX Live 2017. Perhaps take a look at that topic: suggestions about the the better TeX distribution.
