I wrote a new application for windows. It is LaTeX Equation Editor (LaTeX EE)
LaTeX EE is free and Open Source and is hosted in sourceforge.
It can be downloaded from
http://latexee.sourceforge.net/
LaTeX EE is a tiny equation editor with OLE capabilities, so you can embed LaTeX equations in every OLE aware Windows application, such as OOo Writer, Word, etc. I currently use it to embed equations into my OOo Writer documents. It works
Of course, you'll need a running LaTeX distribution installed in your windows system for LaTeX EE to work. I have tested it only with MiKTeX (recommended one).
Feedback is welcome.

A very interesting project and worth a look. I think it will be more helpful for users of MS Word than for those of OpenOffice.org (OOo) because OOo has a built-in script language that is very similar to LaTeX. In the rare cases when using OOo it always worked fine for me.

Hi,
I have the following error with your latexee. I have recently updated my Miktek installation...
Could you help me?

This is pdfTeX, Version 3.14159265-2.6-1.40.21 (MiKTeX 20.11)
entering extended mode
! I can't find file `C:/Users/GERALD'.

Sorry, but "MiKTeX Compiler Driver" did not succeed.
The log file hopefully contains the information to get MiKTeX going again:

Oh I met the same error with yours. Have you solve this problem? May you inspire me how to deal with it? Thanks in advance.
