Bibtex Citation X on page X undefined

Post by GirlfromIpanema »

Dear all,

I recently downloaded Texmaker and will write my Bachelor thesis with it. But I have a problem with the references. I imported the articles on Mendeley and created a .bib file. I then saved this file in the same folder as my .tex file is. When I now \cite{} the articles appear and I can select one. However, when I compile it into a pdf file it appears that the citation was not found. Could somebody help me? I am very new in this area and would be very grateful for any tips.

You have to run BiBTeX after the first pdflatex/lualatex/xelatex run after adding a new \cite and do up to two runs of pdflatex/lualatex/xelatex after the BiBTeX run. See: Question mark or bold citation key instead of citation number.

BTW: I would recommend to use biblatex and biber. See: Biblatex with Biber: Configuring my editor to avoid undefined citations.
