installing packages

Post by csugi »

I need to install a new package. I can find it in the package manager, but when I try to install it I get a message that there is no data. Any suggestions?

Hi csugi,

welcome to the forum!

Which package manager do you use? Is it the MiKTeX package manager, the TeX Live manager, a Linux package manager, or another tool?

It is MikTex 2.9. Also, I know that I have an older version of WinEdt. Would updating that help?

Updating WinEdt probably doesn't matter.

You could change the MiKTeX repository where you install from. Use the MiKTeX package manager and the menu item "Repository". Some screenshots:

Do you have a proxy activated in your Windows or your browser? This proxy setting should be somewhere in the network settings. It's often the case with work computers as proxies are often used in companies.

You could disable the proxy setting or provide the same address in the "Connection Settings" in the Package Repository settings.
