How about this:

  1. \documentclass[10pt,a5paper,openany]{book}
  2. \usepackage{blindtext}
  3. \usepackage{bookmark}
  4. \usepackage{enotez}
  5.
  6. \setenotez{
  7. reset = true,
  8. backref = true,
  9. totoc = chapter,
  10. split = chapter,
  11. list-style = itemize ,
  12. list-heading = \chapter*{#1} ,
  13. split-heading = \section*{#1} ,
  14. split-title = <name> <ref>
  15. }
  16.
  17. \renewcommand*\enmark[1]{\llap{#1}}
  18. \usepackage{titlesec}
  19. \titlespacing{\chapter}{0pt}{*0}{*1.5}
  20. \titlespacing{\section}{0pt}{*2}{*1.5}
  21. \titlespacing{\subsection}{0pt}{*0}{*0}
  22. \titleformat{name=\chapter}[display]
  23. {\centering\bfseries\large}
  24. {\Huge\thechapter}

Thank you so much you've been of such a great help to me!!! I really don't know how I could have pulled it off without you!

hang is better for numberless chapter titles such as Notes' because display leaves an empty space above the title when there's no chapter number.

  1. \titleformat{name=\chapter,numberless}[hang]
  2. {\centering\bfseries\Huge}
  3. {}
  4. {0pt}
  5. {\MakeUppercase}
  6. []

Thanks again.
