latex template for KDP book

Postby villanova » Wed Mar 15, 2023 4:49 am

Hi.
I am desparate for a latex template with the info and dimensions and everything to write a short paperback 6 x 9 to submit to amazon KDP system for self publishing.

I hope it will produce a bunch of empty chapters that I can start writing latex and math into that will end up with the right format for KDP book.

Thanks , looking forward to hearing from you.

latex template for KDP book

If you use latex (say LyX) to create the book and then export to PDF your paper back or hard back might be fine. But if you want to go on to include publication on a Kindle, the equations will be messed up. The following might help:

Sorry, I do not have such a template. You can simply get LyX go to the Document pull down select choose document and then select KOMA script. You can elect defaults, that it is up to you, but you can look on Amazon to choose a height and width to enter there in the page layout. Things like margins can be inserted later, but for big books the Inner margin may need to to be as large as 1.4 for the print book, Then before going to the Kindle book it should be brought down to 0.5 or maybe less. The Document settings you use for the book are up to you but they can always be changed after publication. They probably should not be the same for the print book and the Kindle version.

LyX is a rather steep learning curve and I sympathize. I just made up my own bibliography rather than using the built in system. However, there is not much of anything easier. The results were beautiful when finally published.
