Installation Guide for Minion Pro and Myriad Pro on MiKTeX

Postby Montag » Sun Sep 26, 2010 10:29 pm

Every once in a while it is desired to use a font that is not delivered with a LaTeX system. Especially the (commercial) fonts Minion Pro and Myriad Pro seem to be very popular. That might be reasoned by the fact that they are shipped for free with the Adobe Reader. Four basic styles of those fonts are actually shipped for free by installing this viewer.

This installation guide demonstrates how to make those two fonts work on a MiKTeX system on a Windows PC with XP or a newer OS. The guide was tested with Windows XP, Vista and 7. A short outline of the contents:

  • Requirements (fonts, software)
  • Getting the LaTeX related files for the fonts
  • Installation of necessary tools and conversion of the OTF files
  • Getting started
