### Working with special characters in german

Hey!

I'm currently working on a document on which I would like to use the font "Charter". I got everything in place by using:
\usepackage{charter}

The only thing that does not work is the german "ß". It gets replaced by "SS". After quite a lot of searching nothing seems to work. I've already tried the following setup:

\documentclass{scrartcl} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc}\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc} \usepackage[ngerman]{babel} \usepackage{charter}  \begin{document}	ß, ä, ö, ü\end{document}

This is what I get:

Thank you!

Hi Murd!

Your code should work with pdfLaTeX.

I think you are using XeLaTeX. In that case, instead of

\usepackage[utf8]{inputenc}\usepackage{charter}

write

\usepackage{fontspec}\setmainfont{XCharter}

Or use pdfLaTeX.
