### how i write align without parentheses?

i need to remove parentheses from align numbering and use dot (.) for that. for example i need to see:
my formul           .1

how i can do this? pleas help me

You could redefine the internal macro \tagform@. Here I modify the original version, removing parentheses and inserting the dot:

\documentclass{article}\usepackage{amsmath}\makeatletter\renewcommand*{\tagform@}[1]{\maketag@@@{.\ignorespaces#1\unskip\@@italiccorr}}\makeatother\begin{document}\begin{align}y = f(x)\end{align}\end{document}

It will change the tag for all displayed formulas, but I think that's desirable for consistent numbering.

Here's an alternative method using the mathtools package and its \newtagform{<name>}{<left>}{<right>} macro which maybe is a little bit more intuitive:

\documentclass{article}\usepackage{mathtools}% loads amsmath' \newtagform{leftdot}{.}{}\usetagform{leftdot} \begin{document} \begin{align}   y = f(x)\end{align} \end{document}`
