I have two images that I want to be side be side, under a single caption called "figure 1" Right now, I have one that is on top of a page, and one that is below. How do you get it to be side to side? Thanks!

  1. \begin{figure}
  2. \vspace*{-3cm}
  3. \includegraphics[scale=0.76]{Figure1.png}
  4. \end{figure}
  5. \begin{figure}
  6. \hspace{5em}\includegraphics[scale=1]{Figures1.png}
  7. \vspace*{5cm}
  8. \caption{}
  10. \end{figure}

Use {minipage} or the subfigure, subfig or subcaption package.

See here for a code example.
