I am writing my PhD thesis in latex. there is a problem that in the list of figures the caption is going out of the page limit. kindly suggest the solution.

Welcome to the forum. Usually, one adds a minimal working example so we can reproduce your problem and figure out a solution for you.

Is there a URL? Or something containing a hyphen? Or something strange? I don't know, i cannot suggest anything without aforementioned example.

this shows that captions are going out of the page limit.
