Hello Sofia,

welcome to the forum!

I was in Greece just 4 days ago, with a cruise ship. But for work.

Feel free to post all LaTeX questions here!

Thank you so much Stefan!

I hope you find the time again to come back in Greece during summer but for vacation!

I will try to explain what confuses me using latex for the specific assignment that i need to do.

1) The first thing is that i need to put all my "book" (all pages) in a frame of dimensions 17cm width, 24cm height. I found the way it is made but when i printed it i saw that the dimensions were not correct. I asked in a4 paper to leave margins in top and bottom 2.85cm and in left and right 2cm thinking that a4 paper is 21x29.7 and my frame need to be 17x24 but actually this did not happen.
2)The second problem is that i need my text inside the frame to be in 12.5cm width and 19.5cm height, except from the first page that i want 5cm vertical space until the first title. Although the height of 19.5cm appears correctly in the text, the width is less than 12.5cm asked and i don't know why.
3) The third issue is that I need all the titles, the chapter label, the name of the chapter and section to be in bold helvetica and the rest of the text to be the default font but not in bold. When I printed it as well I saw that the titles are not in bold and that everything seem to be the same font, titles and text.
4) The last problem is that I want the title "Chapter 1" to be in capital and with a dot at the number, for example "CHAPTER 1." I made the capital letters but when i managed to put the dot, a dot also appeared in the numbers of the sections making them "1..1 Introduction, 1..2 Brief etc. I would like the dot after the number to be only in the "CHAPTER 1."

Here I will paste the code i wrote for all these and how the pdf looks like.
I am sorry but my assignment is in greek, sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you .... and I am sorry for the greek

Quick thoughts: helvet may not support sans-serif greek.

It works if you remove

\usepackage[scaled=.90]{helvet}

and possibly also replace it by

\usepackage{lmodern}

and then add \sffamily to where you need it, such as

\titleformat{\chapter}[display]  {\large\bfseries\sffamily}  {\filright\chaptertitlename\ \thechapter}{20pt}{\huge\filcenter}\titleformat{\section}  {\large\bfseries\sffamily}  {\thesection}{1em}{}

Thank you so much Stefan,

I made this change and the paper looked as you showed.

Have you any idea about the distances of the frame and the margins of the text inside it?

Maybe not exactly here, but e.g. here.

I usually do not read the »New Members« section (sorry), because I do not expect LaTeX questions there and my time is limited. There are other sections I do not read, but this is more or less because I'm hoping that there are others who can answer the questions of these sections better than I ever could.

I usually use the "Active topics" button at the top right, so I can see everything new, independent of the forum. And, from time to time, the "Unanswered topics" link at the right side, to take care of even older topics that got 0 answers.

I suggest you start by learning \MakeUppercase . Perhaps, there might be even a package capitalizing all the instances of the words "greece" and "i" in text mode in a LaTeX document .
