Hello from a newcomer and already great admirer of LaTeX!

Hi,

I discovered LaTeX by looking at other reports at my school from other students, especially those who were doing more advanced classes. Their papers look so nice and clean. I was just a good ole MS Word (is that a banned word here? :D ) user until a few days ago. I started with Overleaf as it seems to be the easiest to use option and it's free, so no complaints on that side. I hope to have a great learning experience here and hopefully my submitted papers will look a bit better at the end of this semester and the future ones.

See you around! :)

Hi and welcome to the community.

MS Word is definitely not forbidden here. I saw very well crafted documents done with MS Word. You just have to know what you are doing.

Overleaf is a great tool. But based on how it works, it needs to provide some stability to the users. That stability, in other words, means ... updates do not come that often.

Since Overleaf started and gained success, the LaTeX kernel (and many packages) have seen some great updates and bug fixes. Some are in Overleaf V2.
If you want to seriously start to work with LaTeX, download TeX Live 2019.

And of course, read an introduction ;-)
The smart way: Calm down and take a deep breath, read posts and provided links attentively, try to understand and ask if necessary.

Welcome to the forum!

Feel free to ask any question while you are progressing with LaTeX. We love good questions. Any question and the answers also help countless others, who find that topic later via google and other search engines.
