Could you...

Postby monamipierrot » Sun Mar 14, 2010 3:24 am

Hello!

Could some of you please help me with 2 minutes of your time?
I need to put a dedication in my dissertation. It's for my daughter, her name's Xana.
I don't know how to install XeTeX and its fonts, but I would like to have the dedication typesetted with the Zapfino font. The text would just be:

"a Xana"

and would stay alone on a white page.

Could you please typeset it for me and send me the pdf?
Thank you very much!!!

If you have a recent TeX distribution installed, you probably already have XeTeX installed.

It doesn't have its own fonts. It just uses ordinary system fonts (true type/open type). Zapfino is set of commercial fonts you can buy, and you don't need XeTeX to use them, though the fontspec package for XeLaTeX provides access to some of these fonts' more advanced features. It isn't just one font, but a family of about 10 different fonts. You didn't say which variant you wanted.

You also didn't say what size you wanted it in, what size paper you wanted it on, where on the paper you wanted the text, and so on.

But here's a first guess....

Thanks!
It looks great. Size is not importana, if I can just import the pdf in my page and cut & resize it.
Are there some variants with more glyphs?
Anyway this one is great.
Thanks again
