Lyx noob with compilation problem....

Postby Mikefot » Thu Mar 28, 2024 4:58 pm

Dear Lyx and Latex users,

I am new to using Lyx. I have Texlive installed on Windows 11 on my pc.

I tried creating a single equation on one line using the display option.

I created a new lyx file in the standard mode.

When I hit the update key to compile it I got the following errors:

LaTeX E\LoadClass
               {article}
You may only use one \LoadClass in a class file
Error: Two \LoadClass commands.

LaTeX Error: Missing \begin{document}.
\LoadClass{a
                 rticle}
You're in trouble here. Try typing <return> to proceed.
If that doesn't work, type X <return> to quit.

Fatal Package fontspec Error: The fontspec package requires either XeTeX or
 \msg_fatal:nn {fontspec} {cannot-use-pdftex}

*** (cannot \read from terminal in nonstop modes)

Emergency stop.

If you create a document in Lyx surely the begin and end document commands would be added automatically?

How could I end up with two LoadClass commands?

I must be making some simple errors here.

Suggestions welcome.

Regards

Michael Fothergill
