I can't install Tex Live - Inappropriate ioctl for device  Topic is solved

Postby fpires » Mon Jul 25, 2016 6:38 pm

Hello, everybody.

Well, I use Linux, and downloaded install-tl-unx.tar.gz, extracted it, and tried to install Tex Live by typing the command
  1. sudo ./install-tl
. Then, it comes first the message
  1. cannot contact, returning a backbone server!
, after that comes the message
  1. Loading
, and after some minutes, the last message:
  1. ./install-tl: open tlpdb( failed: Inappropriate ioctl for device at tlpkg/TeXLive/ line 359.

I tried using other mirrors, but the problem is always the same. Does it have to do with the fact that I need a proxy server to access Internet? But I have already configured the environment variables, and access to any site in Internet is pretty good. Could you help me with this question? Thank you very much!

Hello, everybody!

Well, I don't know what happened, but it simply worked. I had no access to Internet in the last past days, but today it came back to live. Then I simply typed
  1. sudo ./install-tl
and Tex Live was installed! Thank you!
