Re: View PDFlatex updates in realtime automatically Topic is solved

Scott, I couldn't find any info for instant preview in the help menu. Would you mind briefly explaining how to use it, and why it's advantageous? Sure. I'll explain why you might be interested. Whatever you put in an Instant Preview inset LyX tries to compile just that part (that is, not the whole ...

Re: lyxpak error

lyxpak is a new feature and still has a good amount of bugs. I have not seen this specific bug reported. You could report it (with more information please -- the error, your LyX version, your OS, etc.) here: http://www.lyx.org/trac

Re: Text-macro in LyX

Hi dj38, and welcome to the forums! Strangely enough this was just asked on stackexchange. Please see my answer and warning there: http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/71550/globally-set-a-word-in-small-caps-or-italics/71591#71591 I might see if the LyX developers would consider adding a more flex...

Hi Dani, welcome! Can you please provide more information? Operating system? LyX version? What is the exact error you get? What messages show up in the terminal? What messages appear when you have View > View messages box open? Maybe try looking at Tools > Paths for some paths to set? Also try doing...

Re: View PDFlatex updates in realtime automatically Topic is solved

Everytime I make one tiny little change I have to press ctrl+R or ctrl+shift+R or go to the view Pdflatex option from the dropdown menu. Either way, it takes me back to the first page of the document and I have to scroll back to the position where I was editing. You might be interested in "for...

Re: How to maintain italics when pasting text from elsewhere

I need to copy and paste documents that I have alread written in word. Many of the words are italicized throughout the various documents. When I copy the documents and then paste them into Lyx the italics are gone and those words just appear as normal text. I am not aware of any way to do this. The...

Re: Tons of questions regarding Lyx and Latex installation.

Then, when installing Latex, I can't find the templates, they say I need to install it, but there are not installers in the 2.0.4 file. Hi jaimefercampos, This is a known *LyX* problem specific to Mac OS and has been around for a while. See the bug report here (although not much useful information)...

This is why I'm not sure how to change the text. I guess I'll leave it.

Thanks,

Re: what exactly is SmallSkip and etc.? Topic is solved

You might know that TeX (and hence LaTeX) has different modes. Two of them being the horizontal and the vertical mode. TeX is in horizontal mode when it builds a paragraph and in vertical mode when it connects different paragraphs to build pages (roughly speaking). This skips are added to the verti...

Re: what exactly is SmallSkip and etc.? Topic is solved

They are defined in the LaTeX kernel (a file called latex.ltx ) like follows: As you can see they're not depending on the font size. Regards Interesting. But does whether LaTeX chooses to go for the upper part of the range (3pt plus 1pt) or the lower part of the range (3pt minus 1pt) depend on the ...
